I guided today in the Bow Lake / Bow Summit area. Great ski conditions with 10-15 cm recent storm snow. No cracking or whumpfing on the moderate angle, well supported slopes that we skied. We avoided areas with overhead hazard.
Light westerly winds, some nice sunny breaks, and cool temps around -10 all day.
No recent natural or skier triggered avalanche activity noted. The snowpack is weak, but was fairly supportive for uptracking and turns. Snowpack depth ranged from 1m to 1.5m. Cornices are growing.
We only saw one other party all day.
I still don’t trust the snowpack and won’t be skiing on large, unsupported slopes.
