Ski Conditions

Adventures365 AST 2 field day #2 in Kootenay National Park.

Nicer weather today and we were able to get a look above treeline and the alpine. There was definitely action up there yesterday with evidence of a small natural #avalanche cycle.

We found a shallow snowpack lacking midpack strength. We skiied (carefully) on 60cm of low density snow overlying rocks and other surface roughness. We didn't find any slab properties in the snowpack below treeline.

The 12 November basal crust was thick and prominent but disappeared above 1800 metres on the south aspect we skiied.
