Ski Conditions

This report is a bit older but we were up in the Aster lake region a few days ago. North aspects still had dry snow over 2300m but you had to be pure north. Other aspects has a mixture of breakable and supportive crusts.

Despite being spring the snowpack still felt spooky and wintery with up to 40cm of weak faceted crystals at the base. Depths were on average 2m but there was lots of variability in the area. We were avoiding thinner snowpack areas where we could wake up the deep basal layers., especially in steeper terrain. Otherwise we were finding good ski quality.weak has
