Trail Conditions

Three day round hike from Mount Shark Car Park to Assiniboine Lodge via Assiniboine Pass. Exit over Wonder Pass then back to Mount Shark Car Park.

The weather was warm and dry for all three days with highs of between 22 and 28 degrees and light to moderate winds. Overnight temperatures dropped down between 6 to 1 degrees.

Snow line was from 2250m upwards on north facing slopes. Wonder Pass still had a good covering, with depths of up to 1.5 metres (see first photo), but snow was melting fast. The snow is well compacted on the trail. On south facing slopes snow sporadically present going down Wonder Pass.

We saw many Colombian ground squirrels and bear scats were present on the trail. Wildflowers were out such as: Prairie Crocus, Calypso Orchid, Few Flowered Anemone, Rock Jasmine and Glacier Lily. The latter of which was in full bloom on the south-facing trail of Wonder Pass.
