Yesterday we climbed the North Bowl on Mt. Andromeda with Yamnuska Mountain Adventures. The approach to the climb provided complex glacier travel from the moment you step onto the ice. We experienced good firm snow on the northerly aspects all day but solar aspects were a different story with mid-thigh foot penetration to mountain top on south aspects by 11am . Rockfall was also noted as soon as the sun came onto the big slopes. This turned back at least one party from the AA col route on Athabasca yesterday by 0930am.
