Climbing Conditions

A number of photos taken today of the current conditions in the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake area have been posted to the Parks Mountain Safety Facebook page and can be viewed at https://goo.gl/C5GZRm

Still several steep snow patches that require crossing on the standard SW Ridge of Mt Temple route. An ice axe and crampons may be required.

The 'Perren' and 'Schiesser Ledges' approaches to the Neil Colgan Hut also have some snow patches to cross but the steeper rock sections are snow free.

Watch for snow melt induced rockfall during the heat of the day.

Numerous size 1 loose wet avalanches were observed on steep snow faces occurring in the last 24 hrs and a couple fresh cornice failures up to size 2 were also observed.
