Greetings climbers,

I just got back from an ascent of Mt. Victoria's South ridge from abbot pass with Yamnuska Mountain Adventures. The approach to Abbot pass now has minimal snow cover making rock fall a serious concern on the approach and descent from the hut. It is wise to avoid traveling under other parties as you travel through this area.

The South ridge on Victoria is in great condition at the moment. Our climbing teams only required crampons for one short icy section just beyond the sickle.

Mt. Lefroy is still holding snow although it is melted back at the top of the route and there is a large bare ice section just above the approach route from the Furmann ledges. This ice patch was sending a fairly steady stream of rocks down during our stay at the hut. Something to consider if you are thinking of using the furmann ledges approach.
