Ski Conditions

Went for a lap on Metal Dome yesterday. Along with probably another 100 like minded others doing the same thing.
Road conditions where basically gravel to the Brandywine/Metal Dome junction.
It was skinable above that with the usual mix of rocks and creeks that 30cm on snow provides.
Toni Anne and I skiied to just below the first high point on tne ridge at around 1850m and there decided to ski trees cause the viz was poor. At ridge top there was a good amount of wind blown snow with probably 30cm of soft slab that had limited reactivity to skiing.
Dug a pit at TL at around 1650m. N aspect. 1m HS of snow there. Upper 40cm is F-4F density with an easy shear down 30cm Below that the snow was 1F to P hard with about 15cm of laminated ice layers just above the usual big ground facets that made a 10cm layer of near slush on heather.
Ski quality was easy season pretty good until ya got into the forest. Then it was a bit of survival skiing. I guess not bad for Nov 2!
