Widespread Surface Condition, all aspect, all elevations
Rogers Pass/ Selkirk Mountains
The inversion and sunny weather are ending and with new snow there are going to be issues. Currently huge surface hoar is widespread on all elevations and aspects. Under the surface hoar is crust on solar, facets on polar aspects. It is a generally weak snowpack. Note that skiing without sun and good visibility will be tricky due to shallow spots, rocks, and creek beds. Below Treeline is rugged and too shallow to ski safely other than the exit trails. Best conditions found in solar-tilted areas (west or NW alpine/treeline) and low-angle south slopes impacted by diurnal temps. Cold dark (north) areas have completely faceted the snowpack.
