Spent a great few days in the Fairy Meadows area with Golden Search and Rescue last week (Sept 16th-18th).
Conditions were dry, as is being reported everywhere, with glacial recession making the access to the start of some rock routes more challenging. The easy egress for many climbs, via friendship col and pioneer pass, looked nearly impassable at this time, and we stuck to lower elevation objectives.
We got some good photos of all the open crevasses on the glaciers, which may be useful if you are lucky enough to be headed in to this beautiful area this winter.
Happy trails,
Jonas
