On the 22nd we skied up the South ridge of Observation sub-peak to reach the North glacier for some skiing. We exited to the highway via the creek between the sub peak and Cirque Peak. On the 23rd we skied up Mt Gordon from Bow Lake via Bow Hut.

On both days the skiing was excellent on all aspects and elevations with 10-25cm of low density snow on a supportive base and almost no wind effect. Uphill travel was fast and easy. We did not have any whumphing in the areas we skied but thin snowpack areas remain weak. We stuck to moderate angled well supported terrain. Glacier coverage was between 200-240+cm on the Wapta and the crevasses below Mt Gordon appeared to be well bridged.

Lots of evidence of previous avalanche activity up to size three on the deep persistent layer of facets, but only one new cornice triggered slab avalanche was observed in the alpine today.

A great time to be skiing up high in the Rockies.
