Spent 3 days (Feb. 15, 17, 18th) in the Bald Hills area. Continued light precipitation (up to 20cms), mild temperatures, and moderate to strong SW winds have now built wind slabs in all lee features in exposed treeline and alpine terrain. Windslabs were stiff and stubborn, being generally found just below ridge crest; however, any exposed lee feature should be treated with caution right now. Windward slopes are either stripped bare or packed into hard sastrugi and should be avoided if possible. No new avalanches reported in the area.
We skied supported slopes up to 35 deg. and avoided large alpine features and convexities. Ski quality was excellent in sheltered treeline and lower alpine features. Play safe and enjoy the fresh snow everyone!
