We skiied up in the Simpson Bowl area on 93N in Banff National Park today. 20 cm of storm snow was redistributed by moderate-strong N winds at midday creating windslabs at Treeline & Alpine. Great skiing where the wind hadn't got at it, which was relatively easy to find.
On our way up this morning we pushed two cars out of the ditch shod in shoddy summer tires. One couple spent the night in their car, unable to free it. If you venture up that highway in the winter - winter tires are MANDATORY and preferably AWD/4WD as well.
