Yesterday I attempted Watch Tower in the Lake Ohara with 2 guests, However I turned around part way up the steep scree slope heading to the base of the Tower. The slope felt very unstable with massive quartzite blocks sitting precariously ready to come down. I am pretty sure that our hot summer has something to do with this. At one point there was rock that slid down with a slight touch on the hard ball bearing surface. Something to keep in mind as our mountains are changing with the warm temps.
