Hi everyone. On the way to the Ursus Minor SW Col today, new needle shaped surface hoar 2-4mm was observed above 1600m. Snowpack at 2300m on south aspect below the rock face before the col was 200cm which was in consolidated. I felt this snowpack so spooky on this aspect and decided to stay away. I moved to lower angle and chose the middle of the slope below the col. Then, by ski pole test, I found 10-20cm low density snow on top of 50-60cm pencils hard snow pack. I hope that this could be useful information before new weather system comes this weekend.
