Hi Everyone,
Myself and seven guests returned from backpacking the Brazeau Lake Loop in Jasper National Park over the past 5 days with Yamnuska Mountain Adventures. The area was smoky throughout the trip, which limited long range visibility as expected, but nearby peaks and meadows still could be seen (particularly when above 2200m). While we were out, Parks helicopters were busy installing new bear-proof lockers to augment the existing bear-poles (with lockers now usable at Four Points and Jonas Cutoff campgrounds). In terms of trail conditions, expect muddy patches, numerous unbridged creek crossings (ranging from easy rock-steps to more adventurous rock-hops in late afternoon melt), and stretches of bushy overgrown trail. Otherwise travel conditions were quite good. We saw many folks heading in to the White Goat Wilderness during our trip, an area of increasing popularity it seems.
Happy Trails,
Ben Nearingburg
