I spent the past two days enjoying some great powder skiing based from a camp at Decker Lake with Altus Mountain Guides. We skied Trorey Glacier, a few lines on Decker Glacier, Blackcomb Glacier, and what used to be the Circle Glacier.

Yesterday on Decker Glacier at 2175m I found CTH(SP) and ECTP21 down 80cm on decomposing surface hoar (these stability test results indicate the possibility of triggering a large avalanche if you hit a weak spot). The ACMG Ski Guide Exam had similar results a little higher on the Decker Glacier and also on the Trorey Glacier. This made me a bit nervous about any big convex rolls and large unsupported north facing features.

Last night we had 5-10cm of new snow, but the winds had already died off before the snow had started to accumulate and we did not observe any new wind effects today. Today the snow became moist even on northerly aspects up to at least 2350m, but still skied really well.
