Avalanche Problem 1: Wind Slabs




- Use caution in lee areas. Recent wind loading have created wind slabs.
- If triggered the wind slabs may step down to deeper layers resulting in large avalanches.
Avalanche Problem 2: Persistent Slabs




Back into lower probability but high consequence of a large avalanche if triggered with the PWL. Large loads such as wind slab or cornice fall may trigger these layers. Resulting avalanches will be large and may reach the end of their run-out zones.
- If triggered the wind slabs may step down to deeper layers resulting in large avalanches.
- Carefully evaluate terrain features by digging and testing on adjacent, safe slopes.
Avalanche Summary
No new natural or skier triggered avalanches observed or reported yesterday.
Snowpack Summary
60cm of snow from the past storm has settled into a widespread storm slab. Strong winds in the alpine have created variable wind slab in the alpine and in exposed areas at treeline. Persistent weak layers are now buried 150-200cm in the snowpack. Snow depth of 325cm at treeline. Surface sun crust can be expected on steeper solar aspects.
