Great snow travel conditions

Rogers Pass - Swiss Peaks

Climbing Conditions

We climbed the Swiss Peaks traverse yesterday from the Mount Rogers col and descended the Truda couloir. The travel on snow remained excellent despite having no overnight freeze and sunny, hot conditions up high.

Coverage on the glacier flats was about 1 metre average with significantly more depth on the slope to the col. The crevasses and bergschrund were still pretty easy to cross and navigate.

There was evidence of a small amount of previous rockfall in both couloirs, but we witnessed nothing new on our trip.

The ridge traverse was dry.

Of note, it is still pretty buggy in the Hermit Meadows area.

All the best,

Marc Piché
