Ski Conditions

Spectacular and busy day on Mt Hector. Upwards of 30 people on the route but it all seemed to work out.

Lower elevations are in good shape with a boot trail and a ski track through the cliff bands. Still solid snow around 3pm. On a hot day these slopes could still melt out and fail dramatically. Lots of ski tracks but still a fairly weak facetted base in most places that could be scary if it got hot soon before it gains more strength.

Glacier is in really good shape, nice fast shallow powder skiing for most of it. The two steep rolls have some serious rhinoceros hide/wind crust that is edgy even in ski crampons. We boot packed up the last big roll just to avoid the edgy patches. Summit tower is in good shape-deep trench up the last slope.
