Avalanche Conditions

Toured onto the Ferris glacier today. Recent southerly winds formed new wind slabs buried by a few cms of HN which were unreactive in the mellow angled terrain skied today. Evidence of a wind slab avalanche cycle out of steep extreme terrain was observed with no deeper slabs pulled. Probed 120cm on the glacier and observed a few open crevasses.

The faceted snowpack seemed to gain a bit of strength over the last few days with the warmer temps, but still a wallow to the ground when off the skin track at treeline and below.
