Climbing Conditions

A brilliant warm day in the valley was cooled off by heading up Fay, with Cale. The climbers right-most gully has a short and easily passed bridge over the bergschrund and a very short 5 meters of exposed 45° ice (we used one tool). The rest of the slope has 5 cms of snow over ice, making front pointing easy.

The glacier is bare to within 100m of the slope, making for easy travel conditions.

The top of the slope got sun at noon, with the attached photo showing a rock-releasing patch at climbers right. Good to be down around then on a hot day like today.

Enjoy
